I met my best friend in high school. Since then, we’ve had more than fifteen years of friendship, and during this time, I have watched many different things happen in his life. I saw him go to college, get a job he hated, and later discover the career that truly inspired him. I also saw him fall in love many times before meeting the woman who would become the love of his life. I saw him transform from a reckless boy into a responsible man. Today he is married and has a son and a daughter, whom I consider my nephew and my niece. It is interesting to think about how someone who was once a complete stranger can become such an important part of your life.

Conheci meu melhor amigo no ensino médio. Desde então, tivemos mais de quinze anos de amizade, e durante esse tempo, acompanhei muitas coisas diferentes acontecerem na vida dele. Vi ele entrar na faculdade, conseguir um emprego que odiava e, depois, descobrir a carreira que realmente o inspirava. Também vi ele se apaixonar muitas vezes antes de conhecer a mulher que se tornaria o amor da vida dele. Vi ele se transformar de um garoto imprudente em um homem responsável. Hoje ele é casado e tem um filho e uma filha, que considero meu sobrinho e minha sobrinha. É interessante pensar em como alguém que um dia foi um completo estranho pode se tornar uma parte tão importante da sua vida.
