Genevieve: So, do you prefer high street shopping or online shopping?
Fliss: I like online shopping more. I – don’t get me wrong – I do like
shopping, in the high street, in Oxford Street, that kind of thing. But I do
like online shopping, just because it’s easier and I haven't got time to shop
all the time. There are certain really good online shops as well, that have
free delivery.
Genevieve: I love high street shopping. It’s ok – I think it's more
person– uh, personal. Um, you get the customer service and you can try on your
clothes before you bring it back.
Fliss: But good customer service, do you get?
Genevieve: Yeah, occasionally bad, but the majority I’ve experienced is
good. And I think it's more–it's more personal and you– you get a feel for the
clothes and that– I think that whenever I have bought things online, I end up
bringing it– bringing it back because it doesn't fit or it's not quite right
and it doesn't quite look like the picture.
Fliss: But then– but then I just think you get the safety– And you can
try it on in your own home and you don't have to be in a squashed hot changing
room, where its horrible lighting, and–
Genevieve: But that's the fun of it! I love the busy– the busyness of
it. It’s fun. I think it's really fun. It’s– Yeah, you get that kind of
personal experience, and it's– it’s just a nice experience.
a iluminação é horrível, e–
Genevieve: Mas essa é a
graça! Eu amo a agitação disso. É divertido. Eu acho muito divertido. É… Sim,
I was born in London … um ... in North-East London and I moved to
Newcastle— well between Newcastle and Sunderland, right on the coast, … um …
when I was about 3 years old. Um, my mum is from Scotland— from Glasgow in
Scotland and my dad is from Birmingham. So they met in London and then we all
moved up to Newcastle … um … and I’ve— I lived there till I was 18 when I went
to university in Sheffield in Yorkshire. Um, and now I’m back in London. I was—
I came back about 6 months ago … um … after being abroad for about two years.
Um, the term ‘Geordie’ refers to people who live in Newcastle. There’s another
term called ‘Mackams’ and they are people that live in Sunderland. And there’s
a lot of rivalry between Geordies and Mackams … um … partly to do with football,
partly to do with just general not liking each other. Um, but because I lived
close to Newcastle but I actually went to school in Sunderland, then I’m a bit
confused and mixed-up. But … um … I wouldn’t call myself a Londoner even though
I was born here and I live here again now. But, yes, I would call myself
Geordie. I think people know about Geordies partly because of their strong
accent … um … and their accent is quite different to any other accent in the
country. Um, I guess, people think that Geordies are kind of— people think of
them as, I think, quite loud and maybe a little bit brash and up for having a
good time, going out, drinking a lot. I think that Geordies aren’t unlike any
other groups of people in the country … um … but maybe we do have a bad
reputation. Um, I think generally people in the South think that people in the
North are a bit more brash, and loud, and maybe a little bit more common. But I
don’t think that’s true. I’m enjoying living in London. I like the hustle and
bustle … um … and I think for a young person it’s the place to be regarding job
opportunities and I’ve got a lot of friends who’ve ended up living in London as
well … um … and there’s always something to do. It’s much more exciting than
being back up in Newcastle. And I think I will— I think I will live— I’m fairly
settled now and think I will live here for, well, a fair amount of time to
come. Um, I think there are places in London that make up for not maybe having
a garden or a lot of space in your house, like there’s lots of parks that are
really nice. Um, you know, they— they spend a lot of money and stuff on making
sure that there are places in London that people can go and feel like they’re
not in the city and not surrounded by cars and buses and shops and tourists and
things like that.
.
