Rafael’s sisters’ names are Natalia and Alessandra. They’re from Brazil.

Raphael’s mother is Nilza and his father is Almir. This is my brother, he’s

called Connor. Our parents are called Kim and Steve. My grandparents, my

mother’s mother and father, are called Eileen and Seamus.

Let’s see, interesting jobs in my family. Well, erm, my parents are retired, so

that isn’t very interesting. My sister, my sister’s in marketing – she’s a

marketing director, and, oh yes, her husband, my brother-in-law, is a

television producer. Um, my sister-in-law is a lawyer, and, who else? Oh, my

uncle. My uncle’s a farmer.

Vejamos, empregos interessantes na minha família. Bem, erm, meus pais são aposentados, então isso não é muito interessante. My family’s jobs? Well, yes, there are some interesting jobs in my family ... my

parents are landlords in a restaurant, and my brother is a chef there, so that’s

a real family business. My other brother’s an engineer and my sister’s in

computing – she’s a computer programmer. Um, let’s see, who else? Well, my

cousin’s a teacher – not very interesting, erm, oh, I know, her father – my

uncle – is a sea captain – a captain of a very big ship. Now, that’s different!

Hi, I’m Jodie and this is Hell’s Kitchen, New York City. It’s the home of a

famous flea market, you know, where people sell old things, things they don’t

want any more. It’s right in the center of the city, so it’s very busy. The market

is open Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 in the morning to 6:00 in the evening,

and people come here every weekend to buy and sell all kinds of things.

My brother Karl and I come here every weekend, too. We have a stall and I

sell old clothes, shoes, bags, scarves and things like that. Karl doesn’t sell

clothes – he sells things like mobile phones, laptop computers and digital

cameras. Our things are all useful, or beautiful, and they’re quite cheap, but

some people sell really expensive, useless things! We love it here – it’s really

good fun!

Olá, sou Jodie e aqui é Hell's Kitchen, em Nova York. É a casa de um

famoso mercado de pulgas, sabe, onde as pessoas vendem coisas velhas, coisas que não quer mais. Fica bem no centro da cidade, então é bem movimentado. O mercado está aberto sábado e domingo das 9:00 da manhã às 6:00 da tarde,

e as pessoas vêm aqui todo fim de semana para comprar e vender todo tipo de coisa. Meu irmão Karl e eu também viemos aqui todo fim de semana. Nós temos uma barraca e eu vendo roupas velhas, sapatos, bolsas, lenços e coisas assim. Karl não vende roupas - ele vende coisas como telefones celulares, computadores portáteis e digitais câmeras. Nossas coisas são todas úteis, ou bonitas, e são muito baratas, mas algumas pessoas vendem coisas realmente caras e inúteis! Nós amamos isso aqui - é realmente muito divertido!

K: Hey, Jodie. You’re here already.

J: Hey, Karl. Yeah, I’m early today.

K: So, everything’s ready.

J: That’s right. Here are all my clothes – my bags, shoes and

scarves, oh, and I have some watches today, too – they’re nice,

don’t you think?

K: Yeah, they’re great! What are those books?

J: Oh, a friend has a book store. He wants to sell some of these old books.

K: OK. What’s the time?

J: Quarter to nine. Do you have your things?

K: Yeah, here they are – some fantastic mobile phones today, and these two laptops.

J: Oh, they’re good. Listen, do you want a coffee before we start?

K: Ei, Jodie. Você já está aqui.

K: I really don’t know, and look over there. Now that’s really ugly!

J: Oh, it is. What is it?

K: I think it’s a coat. But she has some nice scarves. Look.

J: Oh, yeah, these are pretty. ... Jane, hi, I want one of these scarves. OK?

Ja: Sure. Put it over there and come back later.

J: OK, thanks. Karl, just look at those shoes, they’re so old- fashioned!

K: Yeah, but that bag is really useful – I like that.

J: Come on Karl, there are some people at our stall.

On holidays I like to go on city breaks, erm, I go with my girlfriend and we like

to walk around the city and look at the sites. We get up at about nine o’clock

and don’t go to bed until quite late. We take with us our camera because I like

taking photographs of the buildings, erm, and we also take a guidebook so we

can find our way around.

Nas férias eu gosto de ir para a cidade, erm, eu vou com minha namorada e nós gostamos de passear pela cidade e ver os locais. Acordamos por volta das nove horas e vamos para cama muito tarde. Levamos nossa câmera conosco porque eu gosto de tirar fotos dos prédios, erm, e também levamos um guia para que possamos encontrar nossas rotas.

When I go on holiday, I love to go to Thailand because my brother lives there

and I can visit him and spend some time with my nephews and nieces. I love

to go to the beach, er, I always get up early and get a book and take it down

to the beach with me and I take my brother’s children with me, um, I always

take some presents with me when I go to give to the children, er, they love

presents from England, particularly from London. In the evening I usually

spend some time with my brother, in his house, talking, and maybe eat

another meal and get some good sleep, and then the next day back to the

beach.

Quando saio de férias, adoro ir para a Tailândia porque meu irmão mora lá

e posso visitá-lo e passar algum tempo com meus sobrinhos e sobrinhas. Eu amo ir à praia, er, eu sempre acordo cedo e pego um livro e o levo para a praia comigo e eu levo os filhos do meu irmão comigo, hum, eu sempre levo alguns presentes comigo para dar para as crianças, er, eles adoram presentes da Inglaterra, principalmente de Londres. À noite eu costumo passar um tempo com meu irmão, na casa dele, conversando, e quem sabe comer outra refeição e dormir bem, e então no dia seguinte volto para a praia.

I go on holiday with my family, er, we usually go skiing in Italy or Austria. We

like that, er, all of us, the kids too. So we get up quite early, er, at about eight

o’clock, so that we can start skiing in the morning, then we ski all day. Boring,

isn’t it? But we love it! We come back to the apartment at about four o’clock

and have a big meal, then we play games with the children. Um, when they go

to bed we just read books or play more games, but we go to bed early too

because we’re always tired. Oh, we always take sunscreen with us, um,

because it’s often hot and sunny, and of course we take games and books for

the evenings.

Eu saio de férias com minha família, er, geralmente vamos esquiar na Itália ou na Áustria. Nós assim, er, todos nós, as crianças também. Então levantamos bem cedo, er, por volta das oito horas, para começarmos a esquiar de manhã, depois esquiamos o dia todo. Tedioso, não é? Mas nós adoramos! Voltamos ao apartamento por volta das quatro horas e fazemos uma grande refeição, depois brincamos com as crianças. Hum, quando eles vão para a cama, apenas lemos livros ou jogamos mais jogos, mas também vamos para a cama cedo porque estamos sempre cansados. Ah, a gente sempre leva protetor solar com a gente, hum, porque muitas vezes é quente e ensolarado e, claro, levamos jogos e livros para as noites.
