Last year, I traveled to Japan, and it was an incredible experience – but also a big cultural shock! The first surprise was the silence on public transport. In my country, people talk loudly on buses and trains, but in Japan, everyone was quiet. Even phone calls were not allowed! I was also very surprised by the high-tech toilets. I was amazed by the buttons for heating the seat and playing music!  Another shock was the strict rules about trash. I was surprised that there were almost no public trash cans, and yet the streets were extremely clean. People carry their trash with them until they find the right place to dispose of it. The biggest challenge, though, was understanding the rules of politeness. Bowing instead of shaking hands, removing my shoes before entering a house, and always handing money with both hands felt very different. Despite these surprises, I loved my trip. The people were kind, and I learned so much. It was a journey I will never forget!

No ano passado, viajei para o Japão, e foi uma experiência incrível – mas também um grande choque cultural! A primeira surpresa foi o silêncio no transporte público. No meu país, as pessoas falam alto nos ônibus e trens, mas no Japão, todos estavam quietos. Até as ligações telefônicas não eram permitidas! Também fiquei muito surpresa com os banheiros de alta tecnologia. Fiquei maravilhado com os botões para aquecer o assento e tocar música! Outro choque foi as regras rigorosas sobre lixo. Fiquei surpresa ao ver que quase não havia lixeiras públicas, e ainda assim as ruas estavam extremamente limpas. As pessoas carregam o lixo com elas até encontrarem o lugar certo para descartá-lo. O maior desafio, no entanto, foi entender as regras de cortesia. Curvar-se em vez de apertar as mãos, tirar os sapatos antes de entrar em uma casa e sempre entregar o dinheiro com as duas mãos foi algo muito diferente. Apesar dessas surpresas, adorei minha viagem. As pessoas foram gentis, e aprendi muito. Foi uma jornada que nunca vou esquecer!
